Supposed last day in Rio. It was such a lovely day to see all my friends again. Itacoataira was a beautiful beach, followed by forro at Grabriel’s mum’s café, a few drinks and tunes back at the apartment before heading off to The Week, which was quite shit. It feels surreal. I have developed a love for this city and the friends I have made here, but I know something is drawing me elsewhere. I am awaiting the arrival of my package, and then only the world awaits!

Trekking through the jungle with Kieran and two random Paulistas on the way to Christ the Redeemer…The waterfalls were quite pretty. A few days later, a bus trip through Rocinha, the world largest favela, a 15R lift to the base of Pedra de Gavéa, a distraction by a false trail, and finally the real thing. If only we had more time and better weather to make it to the top, but it was fun nonetheless!

Niteroi with Gabriel and Tiago. Such a rad, relaxing day :-)

Pão de Açuca com Dave e Janine

Beaches!

Sambodromo with Janine. This was a LONG night, but quite enjoyable, despite the rain. We were both shocked at how many costumes were just discarded in the trash after the parade, but despite the waste, if the Brazilians put on this show every year, I can’t even begin to imagine what the 2016 Olympic games opening ceremony is going to be like!

Quick trip up to Santa Teresa with the boys!

O dia que eu conheci o Fabiano. Nos visitamos o Jardim Botanico, e bebemos coca cola. O dia foi muito quente, assim Fabiano achei que eu deveria provar minha acaí primeira e foi muito bom!

The second day with Fabiano, Carmelitas bloco in Santa Teresa! This day was simply amazing :D

Gabriel Oliveira and Tiago Tortora. Two of the sweetest guys you will ever meet. A night of beers, ganja, and mischief. I am so glad I met them. They saved Rio for me!
